Application Programmer/Analyst

Our client is looking for an individual with strong Microsoft-based application development experience for an intermediate level position. You will work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment developing and supporting our corporate applications. Reporting to the Enterprise Application Operations Manager, you will provide 2nd tier support and development of production applications as well as application development for new projects.

The individual will have to be a motivated, accountable, process-oriented, self-starting member of the team, and will work closely with Business Analysts, Product Managers, and other IT groups located globally.

Responsibilities

• Develop enhancements and break-fixes to existing web applications, web services, and
  orchestrations;

• Design, develop, and unit test new small to medium-sized applications;
• Provide off-hours support on mission-critical applications based on a fortnight shift;
• Clearly communicate service outages and advisories to customers and business
  stakeholders in a timely fashion;

• Participate in the change management process by communicating technical impacts of
  production application changes;

• Provide assistance to project teams as required in the development and release of
  applications;

• Consistently deliver a positive experience with development and support services to
  customers and peers;

• Stay current with ever-changing trends, technologies, and standards involving application
  development and lifecycle management.

  Technical Requirements

• Multi-layered application development using Visual Studio Team System, C#, ASP.NET,
  ADO.NET/Entity Framework, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and LINQ;

• Middleware and integration development using WCF, ASMX –based web services and BizTalk;
• Data tier development using T-SQL and XML;
• Object-oriented design patterns and best practices;
• Microsoft Server Technologies – BizTalk 2006, SharePoint 2007/2010, SQL Server
  2005/2008, Internet Information Services (IIS), Windows 2003 Server;

• Team Foundation Server (source control, build management, work items);
• Nice-to-have: Force.com cloud-based development, ASP 3.0, VBScript.

  Skills & Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or similar program;
• 2-5 years working experience in a complex environment as an application developer;
• Solid understanding of system development and operations lifecycles;
• Top-notch customer service skills;
• Excellent systems analysis, troubleshooting, and time management skills;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are required;
• Ability to work under pressure independently and within a team;
• Able to grasp new concepts and technologies quickly;
• Financial/Brokerage experience is an asset.
