AR Job 812 Systems Engineer with an emphasis on SAN and Vmware environments
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the ongoing monitoring, maintenance and administration of all production and development servers, with an emphasis on SAN and Vmware environments. Production servers include internal corporate, QA, and external customer systems. In addition, you will be accountable for the following:
- Assist in translating business requirements into systems qualities and into repeatable design strategies that enable the following: adaptability, scalability, availability, reusability.
- Provide system, service, and process documentation, including diagrams as required.
- Participate in the evaluation of vendor software targeted for possible integration into the systems or environment, including strategic applications, tools, and utilities.
- Assist in defining the IT design methodology and best practices including periodic system & service reviews to support our continuous improvement goals.
- Support the evaluation and selection of enterprise server hardware, operating systems, administrative toolsets, and performance management systems.
- Install, administer, support, tune, and troubleshoot enterprise Active Directory, Linux systems, storage area networks and backup environments.
- Install, administer, tune, support and troubleshoot the full suite of Microsoft Server applications, including but not limited to Exchange, SQL, BizTalk, IIS, Sharepoint, ISA, SMS, WSUS, and ActiveSync. VMware engineering & support responsibilities are included.
- Troubleshoot corporate systems and services which include but are not limited to Netbackup, PeopleSoftCRM, Source Safe, Epicor eBackOffice, EIC, and Strata. This is a designated “on-call” position and will be subject to the conditions of the Company’s On-Standby/On-Call Policy. The on-call requirement for this position is the availability to provide 24×7 support when scheduled.

- In addition, you also possess the following skills and experience:
- Experienced system engineer with 5 years in a similar position within a PCI environment
- Knowledgeable of NT, Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and 2008 Microsoft OS & applications and BackOffice solutions
- Solid experience in SAN administration (preference to Netapp/Sun or similar experience)
- Strong background in Linux administration (preference to Fedora/Centos or similar experience) MUST HAVE
- Solid experience in Vmware administration – must have experience with version 3.0 or later MUST HAVE
- Solid experience in Vmware Lab Manager MUST HAVE
