Business Analyst

Our client is looking for a Business Analyst, this position Reports to the Manager, Business Solutions, the incumbent will develop business requirements through consultation with the various business units and assist the Programmer/Analyst in developing functional and technical specifications. The incumbent will also ensure that new functionality and changes to the existing banking system are fully tested prior to production release.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Confers with personnel of functional units to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements, how data is to be summarized, and requirements for reports.
• Writes detailed description of user needs and program functions.
• Prepares illustrative output for review and approval by users.
• Reviews computer system capabilities and workflow to determine if requested changes will satisfy the user’s requirements within the existing system.
• Recommends changes to improve the system and/or solve the problem
• Designs and monitors acceptance tests if necessary.
• Conducts systems testing and documents findings. Liaise with programmer analysts and other specialists to ensure that errors detected in testing are corrected. Re-test as necessary.
• Ensures that changes and new functionality are fully tested and comply with specification prior to sign-off/release.
• Defines business problems with existing programs or initiates design of new applications.
• Ensures customer acceptance by soliciting their involvement on designs and functionality.
• Maintains communications with end-users to ensure systems continually meet the customer’s expectations.
• Prepares and presents project deliverables to the appropriate management.
• Provides technical assistance in the preparation of requests for proposals related to systems or records.
• Schedule and prioritize workload to ensure that QA can be completed as required within release deadlines. On occasion, work may be necessary outside regular office hours to accommodate release schedules.

  SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Work is varied and complex; requires thoroughness, imagination to try to break code, logic in processing.
• Requires a solid and complete knowledge of Banking and Banking Systems.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, provide guidance and instruction to customers, write clearly and concisely, interact with users of varying levels of expertise as well as the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
• Must be detailed oriented in order to detect errors/shortcomings of new or changes to existing code.
• Ability to create and use SQL queries.

  SELECTION CRITERIA

• Secondary School Diploma
• Diploma in Information Technology, and a minimum 4-6 years experience in the financial industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• In-depth knowledge of the i-Wealthview application software, as well as general knowledge of Windows 2000 and SQL 2000.
