
Wireless Network Analyst
Our client is searching for an Intermediate Wireless Network Analyst to provide both wired and wireless network configuration, documentation, and implementation services for the upgraded wired/new wireless networks throughout the various health authority networks at up to 133 health care facilities throughout the Lower Mainland, as part of a new Managed Wi-Fi service that is being implemented.
Services Required:
The Intermediate Wireless Network Analyst will be responsible for documentation of current state / future state network (wires / wireless) topology; preparing (staging) and physical installation of hardware such as Edge Switches and UPS devices; and performing the implementation tasks required to update / deploy network wireless access points, wireless controllers, network switches, and supporting telecommunications equipment in various Edge Communication rooms.
While the core hours for this position will be during standard business hours, successful proponent will be expected to work in the late night / early morning hours to implement the switches / cutover to Managed Wireless service to a third-party provider.
The scope of activities will include the following tasks:
- Conduct site assessments / audits of horizontal cable pathways / communication rooms
- Assist with the assessment of the current status of the Communications room environmentals: power, cabling, racks, PDU, UPS, fibre cabling, and copper-BIX connections
- Preparation / installation of the network switches for placement within each rack
- Installation of UPS devices within existing server racks
- Assisting with the logical mapping and pre-configuration of the network switches
- Implement wireless (Wi-Fi) infrastructure
- Assist with the implementation of network switching, routing and access control infrastructure
- Preparation of documentation related to the assessment, preparation, implementation, and operational support transition phases of the project
- Develop an understanding of the current Health Care standards related to the network equipment installation / configuration / operations
- Other tasks as required related to the upgrading of the network equipment in the Edge Communications rooms
Specific Qualifications or Experience Required:
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in a program such as Communications technology, plus appropriate vendor network certification(s), and four (4) years of recent data networking experience. In addition, the successful candidate will have the following experience:
- Three years demonstrated experience with network site assessments, planning, implementation, network issue problem solving / troubleshooting, and the application of network standards
- In-depth experience with enterprise grade Cisco network hardware
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and results-oriented
- Sound judgment and decision making skills
- Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office
